Alice in Wonderland

After James Cameron’s Avatar had set the global trend for 3D films, I watched Tim Burton's 3D fantasy adventure, Alice in Wonderland. The talented director and the much-admired actor Johnny Depp, in addition to the cutting-edge 3D technology, helped the cinema halls to gain big audience even for a morning show.

Save the Tiger in the Year of the Tiger

The Chinese lunar calendar has just moved into the Year of the Tiger in February 2010. Everyone seems to be excited about tiger as it is the living symbol of power and strength. Many Chinese New Year greetings or phrases related to tiger, such as “be as magnificent as a tiger” and “live with the spirit of a dragon and the strength of a tiger”, come from the powerful and fearsome appearance of tiger, and remind me of wild tiger as the king of all animals in the Nature. As a matter of fact, tiger is the largest member in the biological family of the cats. Its cleverness and agility well equip it to sit at the top of the food chain and make it an important member in maintaining the ecological balance.

The Visible Beauty

I am very into movies. Recently I watched a few clips of the 81st Annual Academy Awards – Oscars 2009. The part which impressed me the most was Kate Winslet winning the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in The Reader after her five previous nominations ended in defeat. “I'd be lying if I haven't made a version of this speech before I was eight years old and staring into the bathroom mirror. And this would have been a shampoo bottle. Well, it's not a shampoo bottle now,” she said.
